Greenhill Crossing is a true crossroads of American History. Centuries ago it was a crossing for the Susquehannock and Iroquois tribes. In the past two hundred years, it has linked people from Pennsylvania to the Carolinas, used by tradesmen, soldiers, sportsmen - even early highwaymen and cattle rustlers. The residents of Haymarket still refer to Route 15 as The Carolina Road, where in centuries past, taverns were favorite stopping places. Residents and visitors of Haymarket also enjoy their annual Spring Festival and Haymarket Day - where the streets are lined with craft vendors and entertainment. The Green Hill Tract of land originally belonged to a wealthy English landowner. The town of Haymarket grew up around a tavern nearby. Then came the railroad, the War, new inns, small stores and young families looking for a place to build their future.
